Singapore or Australia?

edited June 2016 in Loose talks
Marami akong friends from the past na nasa Australia na. but my wife and I love Singapore, feels like this is our comfort zone. We've read at http://www.pinoyau.info na back to zero talaga mga nagmimigrate sa Australia. other even consider taking odd jobs para lang makasurvive. If you are earning SGD 10k, may bahay ka na dito, at well establised na, lilipat ka ba sa Australia? What's your thoughts about migrating to Australia?

  • Same for my case makisig. but Im not earning 10k sgd. How I wish lang. Hehe. Sg is also my comfort zone. And the fact that AUD Is almost neck to neck with SGD.... economy wise SG looks stronger now compared to Australia. I heard from a friend government is trying to cut down the benefits of PR in Australia. I still like Australia compared to Singapore but i guess for now SG muna.
  • I still prefer Singapore over other country with the same reason ni Admin. i also look at the economy how strong a country has. i used to eye Australia too given the high standard of living and TAX, add the worst economy they have right now.
  • Ako lilipat na lang ako ng Australia, I did my bacherlors in Perth, I love the country.
I studied in SG since Grade 1, 1991.. ayaw ko na dito! hehe may cpf lang talaga kaya ayaw ko umalis hehe
  • same! Cpf talaga da best dito sa Sg. I do have plan to migrate to OZ kaya lang isip namin mag asawa makapag citizen muna. Then try applying pr dun para may fall back. Kung between pinas and OZ mas iiwan ko pinas. Haha sorry sounds mayabang.

3 years ako sa Singapore before ako nag-migrate dito sa Australia.

    - Partially correct!

    - Check ninyo sa seek.com.au or ihttps://au.indeed.com/ at madalas eh pinapakita yung salary offer/range. Then, i-calculate ninyo sa paycalculator.com.au para makita yung NET pay. Depende yan kung anong line of work natin at kung ilang years of experience na, saka kung anong city sa Australia (Sydney? Melbourne? Brisbane? Canberra?)

    - Sa SG, mga 5K ang gross at net ko. Dito sa Australia, mas malaki yung kinikita ko kasi, i-opted to work as a Contractor. 10 years na ako nag-wowork at nasa 10K+ ang net salary ko rito (again, as a contractor), as a software developer.
    -
Note na may mga permanent positions rin naman dito that pays 150K to 200K gross per year, although very rare.

So ayun, sana makatulong. Pero kung malakas loob ninyo to take on more challenges, try nyo na dito sa Sydney! Aside sa monetary gains, iba pa rin yung may permanent residency ka (with a chance of dual citizenship) at mga benefits like healthcare, centerlink at education etc.), personally eh ayoko yung kinakabahan ako na ma-e-expire na yung E-Pass ko, saka sobra hirap na makakuha ng PR sa SG.

Again, walang perfect country. All the best sa ating lahat!

@jobhopper , how about the racism in Aus? Whats the status there now? For sure meron din nmn dito sa sg (very minimal stories Ive heard), but 3 of my friends (PR dito sa sg) went to work in Australia, and they came back to SG all because of the racism factor.
  • @jobhopper thanks. very valuable first hand exp to.
