Filipina fined $8000 / jailed 20 days

Anu masasabi nyo?

Damay na naman mga pinoy na matitino

A customer service officer with a hair treatment company forged company receipts in order to redeem rewards from a shopping mall worth $1,405.

At the State Courts on Thursday (7 March), Mance Eronamae Ardina was fined $8,000 after she pleaded guilty to two charges of forgery. If she fails to pay the fine, she will have to serve 20 days in jail.

The 25-year-old Filipina worked for PHS Hairscience. In November last year, a branch manager of the company spotted Ardina queuing up at the Parkway Parade concierge counter and submitting company-issued receipts to redeem membership reward points with the shopping mall.

PHS Hairscience’s human resources department then conducted investigations and confronted Ardina, who admitted to her crimes.

For instance, on 30 November, a customer bought a cream worth $55.14 from the store Ardina was working at, but she did not issue the latter a receipt.

After the customer left the store, Ardina wrote her own name on the receipt. She also fraudulently indicated the sales amount to be $860.

Similarly, on 3 December, a customer bought a shampoo for $163.55, but Ardina did not issue a receipt for the purchase. The customer service officer wrote her name on the receipt and falsely stated the amount to be $1,976.

Between 26 November and 11 December, Ardina redeemed $1,405 worth of benefits from Parkway Parade. These included vouchers for ride-hailing app Grab, 12 pieces of $100 Parkway Parade Christmas shopping vouchers and Lendlease e-vouchers.

Ardina has made full restitution of the amount cheated. The maximum penalty for forgery is up to four years’ jail along with a fine for each count
