Quota for Employment Pass?

Kinausap ako ng HR, kase galling daw sila ng meeting with MoM. Mag impose na daw MoM sa buong bansa na quota for EP and will be enforced na daw soon, at keylangan daw citizen (note ha, citizen not even PR) ang ma-approve lang for new EP perm hires.

Anyway to be advised pa raw kung pwede nila gawan ng paraan, pero better to prepare na daw for the worst just in case lang. my gawd.

  • what do you mean?

"keylangan daw citizen (note ha, citizen not even PR) ang ma-approve lang for new EP perm hires"
  • meaning pag may bagong position na ipapa approve for EP, denied na daw, keylangan citizen ang mag take ng position so rejected automatically ang EP hanap company ng citizen to take up the position. Tapos on top of that mag impose na daw ng quota for EP. meaning sa buong companya magkakaron na daw ng max % na daw EP for the whole company. So kung 80% sa company ay EP holders, and the new quota is say 30%, you either need to hire more citizens or magtangal ka ng existing EP pool nyo and replace them with citizens. yun ang pagka explain sakin.

Not a concrete case pa siguro
  • Lahat ba ng companies affected including MNCs?

I don't know... pero sabi sakin only for perm hires. Kung contractor/temp pwede pa rin EP.

Is there anyone here that has been able to get EP for a permanent position (Employment Pass, not S-Pass) in the last month?

The EP kase is the higher salary variant so ang gusto ng MoM pag permanent position dapat mapunta mga positions na yan sa mga citizens. nag tanong na ako sa mga banking and IT friends ko, pirme daw lahat wlang nakakamove sa ibang company kung perm role ang gusto. Kung gusto lumipat keylangan daw mag downgrade to a contract or temp position.

Ang nakakataka.. bakit wala man sa news or announcement. parang kinakausap na lang mga HR or auto reject na lang ang EP for perm positions. Basta for me, nakaktakot, kase perm ako on EP at kinausap na HR namin.

    @Suddenly_Susan
Ano ang industry ng work mo? Hindi kaya case to case basis yan?
So lahat ng magaapply automatic spass for perm position.
  • @rose.lyn_12 yes pwedi mo sya check, punta ka web site mom then check application status..

    http://www.mom.gov.sg/passes-and-permits/employment-pass

Drafting pa lang siguro ng new policy kaya kumukuha pa lang sila info/feedbacks from different sources.

Pero mabilis lang dito mag draft at mag approve ng policies, by next year baka operational na yan.

Expected naman na yan, policy changes the past 4yrs sa pass eligibility, criteria, quota eh signs na eventually aabot sa EP yung pag hihigpit, dapat pinaghandaan na yan nating mga foreign worker we had years to prepare for that.

Sa dating psg site, napag usapan na din yan na in the next 5-10 yrs mag sisigraduate na mga locals na kaya punan ang demand for Banking/Finance/IT/Tech jobs. Years ago kasi karamihan ata ang demand dito nasa tourism kaya mga local nag aaral ng tourism and some banking, pero nung naging financial hub na ang SG at ngayon nagiging IT/Startup/Tech hub na din eh may tumaas na din bilang ng mga lokal na nag take ng banking/financial/tech/research/engineering at nag sisi graduate na sila, at syempre sila ang priority sa trabaho, at kapag napupunan na nila ang demand, no reason to retain or increase ang bilang nating mga banyaga.

  • yung PEP pala $12,000sgd na, grabe!
  • May nakaready na ba kayo na plan b in case mareject ang pass in the future?
  • taas na naman yang 12K
  • @carpejem dati nga ka level lang sya EP basta 5years kna EP pwedi kna apply PEP
  • Pass ko is expiring Nov.. So up for renewal na sya soon if ever.. yan ang kinakatakot ko.. :-(
  • @Suddenly_Susan fear not. just pray to GOD. balitaan mo kami
  • unfortunately @Suddenly_Susan that's not how it works.
bottomline, kahit permanent ka pa sa trabaho mo pero dahil work pass holder lang tayo we are still temporary workers, kaya ALWAYS have a Plan B and most importantly SAVE UP for the rainy days.
  • Given the situation, its happening, this is their ground. we should have future planning as @tambay7 said.
5 years from now hard to tell kung ano mangyayari kaya plan ahead talaga :(
