Is this a common Filipino Rant?

Hello Everyone,

Gusto ko lang sana manghingi ng advice from you guys, Here is the scenario.

I am an architect in the Philippines, I am currently employed here in a small construction company, mag 2 months na ko. but I feel that I am being static for growth and development.
Kasi tatlo lang kami sa office, Ako, ung office admin at isang coordinator. which is almost everyday eh dalawa lang kami natitira sa office ng admin namin, kasi ung coordinator eh laging nasa site. This is my first time working in SG so kumbaga wala pa kong masyadong alam when it comes to the work process here, although may 4 years na ko experience sa PH. Yung 2 months na pagwowork ko na-feel ko na parang wala akong natutunan as a professional kasi walang nagmmentor sakin or kahit nagtuturo lang. Ang boss ko eh lagi ding wala, at kung nasa office naman ssabihin lang na gawin mo yung ganito ganyan, pero hindi nya sinasabi kung pano, kaya ang ginagawa ko eh its either nagssearch ako sa google o nagtatanong ako sa admin namin na most of the time hindi nya ko nasasagot dahil di naman sya technical person. Minsan nga buong araw akong walang ginagawa sa office dahil kakaunti yung project.

One more thing, my boss is verbally abusive. blamer, lagi sumisigaw at papagalitan ka ng walang dahilan. Siguro natural na sa mga boss dito yung ganun, which is para sakin natitiis ko naman. Kaso I came to a point na tinatanong ko ang sarili ko kung worth it bang mag-stay dito na walang growth for my career? Thats why im starting to think na maghanap ng ibang employer.

What do you think guys? Titiisin ko ba na ganito since maswerte padin ako kasi may work ako. or I opt to chase other employers who can give me career advancement?

Thanks!

    Hi @superarki.

LOL.

However, I chose to stay. It was given by God to me during the times na sobrang desperado ako makahanap ng work. :)

Isipin mo na lang, if you are earning decently and your job is hindi mabigat, you are very lucky.

Try mo na lang magbasa ng mga kung ano anong misfortunes nung iba nating mga kababayan dito and you'll be very happy to have your job.

You are still very blessed. :))

Madaming ways to keep yourself updated and relevant sa line of work natin.

Anyways, good luck to you and sana maging okay din ang lahat.
Sad but true...minsan pera pera lang yan. Tapos lipat hahaha
  • @JuanDeLaCruz
syempre karamihan naman tayo kaya nagwork dito dahil sa mataas ang sweldo, pero we can earn naman while learning and growing diba? and as a professional I wanted to have more knowledge dito sa SG.
  • @superarki naks buti ka pa motivated.. wish u the best, man..hehe

Stay while you still happy, leave when your not.

@superarki, most of the time ako lang din mag isa naglulunch just so you know. Nagbabaon kasi ako. :)

LOL.

Ang masaya for me ay hindi ako stressed out, okay ang sweldo, magaan work, 5 days work, 6PM uwi na. Madaming time manood ng movies at series at madaming time kay gf.

My point is, kaya tayo lahat nandito ay dahil sa malaking sweldo tulad ng sinabi nilang lahat.

You already gained the solid experience sa Pinas that's why you are chosen for your current job. Now yung professional advancement at learnings na gusto mo makuha dito sa SG, there's a lot of ways to learn.

Pero sabi nga ni @carpejem, stay as long as you're happy, leave when you're not.

Depende yan sa priorities mo sa buhay. :)

Tama si @JuanDeLaCruz , there will come a time na you will realise na mas okay pa din na magnegosyo ka sa Pinas. Even if not related sa natapos mo. Ikaw ang boss and money will work for you.

  • @jrdnprs @carpejem @JuanDeLaCruz

Bros thanks sa mga advice, medyo gumaan yung feeling ko. siguro nga nasa adjustment period palang ako kasi nga iba yung working environment sa PH compared dito. Actually im starting to apply for other companies, pero hanggat walang bagong pass, syempre tyaga tyaga muna dito.

Siguro kusang dadating nalang yung mga learnings while im working here.

  • @Liwayway

thanks sa advise, buti nalang talaga nag post ako dito at nakakakuha ng insights from my kababayans. I am really grateful and blessed that I have a job right now kasi matagal ko din pinaghirapan ito. I will stay here and see how things go. If may tumawag man sakin na ibang employer, baka yun yung sign ni lord for me. hehe.
  • @superarki aga pa kabayan, 2 months plang. lilipas din yan & you will get used to it.

at this point (what i did during my first few months), plan your activities after work and weekend. try to engage in your interest. wag ka mag-sesettle sa groceries, gala at simba sa weekend at uwi after work lang - yan mabuburnout ka talaga. try to engage 1 activity mid week and activities every weekend.

in my case, i do night running/jogging every wednesday or thursday and basketball every weekend (basketball is life). ung kaopisina ko naman merong boxing class every Thursday. i tried boxing din.

my point is, need mo idivert ang mind mo from your work environment to your interests.
  • @superarki additional advise, say what you want, as long as within your job scope, make a suggestions for your growth , there's no harm.
  • importante pa dn ang career growth second is the money.
  • mas maganda if sabay....growing career with big money hahaha.
  • @goblinsbride tama ka, much better kung may career advancement while having good salary.

Hi Guys, actually nakaka-adjust na ko sa environment dito samin. but still I hate how my manager mismanage his team. minsan hinahayaan ko nalang at pag pinapagalitan nya kami oo nalang kami ng oo. pasok sa kanang tenga labas sa kaliwa.Nasanay na din ako kumain mag-isa. Hanggang ngayong looking for other companies pa din ako kasi hindi ko mavisualize na magtatagal ako sa current company ko, halos walang benefits, walang system, wala kang goal. haha, I hope God will still give me a change to find other job here. But sometimes Im thinking na bumalik nalang sa pinas, now i realize the happiness kapag sa sarili mong bansa ka nagwowork. haha.

Since malapit na mag chinese new year mas madami sigurong chance makahanap ng ibang employer hehe.
  • Hello! Here's my unsolicited advice...wherever you go, there will always be a b*llsh*t manager/teamlead/colleague etc. There will always be sh*tty companies with shi*tty benefits, etc. My point is, it's all up to you to make the most out of things. Always remember, why you started there in the first place. Kaya madalas mas maganda if pupunta tayo sa isang company na buo talaga loob natin. Para whatever happens, you face the consequences of your actions. Hindi dahil para magkaroon lang agad. always think for the long term.

You're still young. You still have a lot of things na mapapagdaan.

Seriously, think about it. Think hard about it. and if you haven't yet....find your passion. If you're passionate with what you do, no matter how bad things are around you, you'll always be willing to continue things...kasi gusto mo.

    Happy new year!
