  • Hi! On my 2nd day na dito sa SG and naka 2 in person interview na ako kahapon. I submitted application 1 month before ako mag land here. Ngayon kahit 2nd day ko pa lang, ang taas ng anxiety ko kasi naubusan na ko ng interview line up. Nag ssubmit na ako resumes here. Goodluck sa ating lahat!

IO in SG/PH no problem, 17kilos pa ang maleta ko lol.

I only have 30k pesos, and my friend will extend my pass on my 15th day here. Grabeng pagtitipid pero adventure na rin. Bahala na si batman hehehe.
  • @gary_garlic good for u..1/day ave mo ngayon..ako pa 1 month na 3 interviews lg inabot..pero sige2x lg sabi nga..
  • So I'm going to give you guys a tip kahit na wala pa rin naman ako na sesecure na role here. My field is in Recruiting kasi so I have an idea how End to End Recruiting works and since nakausap ko na ang mga Recruiting friends ko here, napag aralan ko na how they work (which is sobrang LAYO from Pinas grabe!). I'm not scared of competition too, how you sell yourself is still what matters, kahit marami akong kasabayan na Pinoy. At the end of the day, it boils down to your attitude (how you presented yourself + skills + preparedness) Just today I got 3 phone calls na ulit. Ang pinaka worry ko na lang is super baba ng salary ko sa Pinas and yung foreigner quota. I said salary, mahirap i discuss yung how compensation planning works for us Recruiters so skip ko na part na yun.

    This is is my technique:
    1. Do cold calls sa mga Recruiters directly. In Jobstreet, may mga phone numbers ang Recruiters there. Send Whatsapp too if meron sila. Just ask if they have quota and be upfront so you won't waste your time.
    2. Besides sending resumes 100x a day, be strategic. Do it at 4:00am.
    3. If you have friends here, ask for a recommendation!! Magpa refer ka.
    4. Tailor fit your job description sa role that you are applying for. Your resume should at least be 2 pages only. In fact when my resume was printed out by the recruiter nung interview ko kahapon, nakita ko back to back nya prinint. It was easy for her to skim through it. 13 years na ako nag wwork, sinama ko lang yung 2008 ko na role.
    5. Sign up for LinkedIn. This is the platform where Recruiters connect. Find the company you're interested at, look for Recruiting employees working there, connect with them and then send them a message. Personally, I signed up for a Premium Trial which I will cancel in 30 days. I just need to maximize yung platform to connect with them.
    6. Lastly, research the company and prepare! Think of this as a competition with yourself, and not everyone else's. Given na yan na million nag aapply here. But you only have your skills, attitude and yourself to compete with.

Just be positive, have the right mindset and don't be afraid to fail. Umuwi man tayo ng luhaan, at the end of the day, you did your best and you handled setbacks gracefully. I hope this helps and goodluck!!!!
  • Thanks @gary_garlic for sharing some tips. Halos same tayo strategy. Worth it yung pag gising at pag apply ng maaga. ako 4:00 ng umaga hanggang 8:00AM para pag pasok ng mga recruiter on top yung application/resume ko. Will share din my techniques and experience soon. #firsttimer
  • @gary_garlic hello pumunta kaba dyan na may scheduled interview kana? I'm planning kasi na pumunta din sa Singapore this coming end week of April. Wala pko interview ni isa. Please advise.
  • @ella8 yes, meron ako naka line up na 2 interviews when I got here. I started sending out resumes January pa lang. Good luck sa Job hunting! FYI -- mas matagal na ang processing ng work visa daw here, nakalagay na sa paper 3 weeks. Have a friend na PR who can extend your stay para you don't need to exit. These are the things I only learned about when I got here.
  • @gary_garlic thank you for your reply. I've been sending my cv since January din wala pa akong interview ni isa. Grabe hopeless na yung feeling ko. Uutang ako sa sister ko just to go there pero nagdadalawang isip ako baka masayang Lang yung perang pinaghirapan nya. Salamat!
  • @ella8 Recruiting kasi ang industry ko with focus on Banking Operations, so yung resume ko tailored sa needs nung mga companies na sinesendan ko ng resume. I have about 15 different resumes, catered dun sa business profile nung company na in aapplyan ko. In your resume, use an SG address of your friend and ask her if pwede gamitin cell number for your resume lol. That's what I did, pero if may tumawag ni rroute nya sakin yung caller and give her my PHL number. You need to have savings, parang manghihinayang ka if pumunta ka dito and uutang ka. Just my two cents. But if you do, don't be afraid to fail. Ganyan talaga, if it's not for you despite your effort, wala rin tayo magagawa talaga. But diskarte talaga important.
  • @Vincent17 yes, PR po sya here since 2004 pa.

I'm on my 13th day here. Learning experience talaga sya and di ko makakalimutan mga pinagdaanan ko here no matter what happens. Doors close when they do, sabi nga nila. If it's for you, hindi ka palalampasin nyan. :)
  • Hello po! Newbie here.
Planning po ako magpunta ng SG this coming June. From Davao pa po ako.
For a first timer like me din, itong site na to naging guide ko for everything. Goodluck sa job hunting! May mga time na umiiyak ako here, hindi talaga madali. Pero yung mindset mo when you get here i prepare mo na, plus Plan C,D etc. More importantly, mag enjoy ka! Go out and don't waste your time just sitting. Enjoy talaga para mawala yung feeling ng panghihinayang if you don't get any :)
  • @rodelynnylanan Challenging sya and risk talaga ang magpunta dito to find a job. However, d mo malalaman if you won't try. I think you need to keep your hopes high and your expectations low para d ka malungkot if things don't turn out according to your plan. Importante malakas loob mo and tlagang samahan mo ng matinding dasal. I remember the time na wala pa ako work tama si @gary_garlic kc meron ako days na tourist mode talaga ako, hehe! But of course I made sure na talagang nagawa ko na magpasa pasa in the morning. What I did was, sa gabi checking na ako ng job openings then I prepare my drafts na as much as I could. Pinagpupuyatan ko, hehe! Then office hours early morning send send send. After lunch hour ganun din pero not so much na pag late afternoon kc pauwi mode na sila, haha! Feeling ko lang naman. Anyway, good luck sayo and God bless :)
  • @rodelynnylanan ano field mo?

All the best.....kung kapalaran mo makapag work dto SG bibigay syo ni Lord yan.....GOD Bless!!!!
Open naman sila and they will keep me posted, kaso syempre on my part, antayan na ang peg.
Good luck and all the best.
  • Thank you po sainyo for taking your time sa pagreply sa query ko!
:) Matanong ko lang po, yun pong naka line up nyong interviews bago kayo dumating ng Sg, alam po ba ng employer na nasa Ph pa kayo at the time of application? If you dont mind, ilang years po work experience ninyo?

Kaso di pa ako makaka tourist mode kasi on a tight budget. Hehe. Ano po bang magandang way para maging systematic yung pag aapply? Submit CVs online sa morning tapos buong araw mag walk in?

@Bert_Logan ang work experience ko po is administrative work sa Ford for 8 months tapos government service naman for 3 years. mainly clerical/encoding yung ginagawa even though nasa Accounting department. isang concern ko po pala is yung natapos kong kurso. Hndi kasi in line yung degree ko sa work exp ko gawa ng pagiging impractical ng degree ko (International Studies) :( malaki parin po kaya chances ko of landing a job despite that?
  • By any chance, meron po ba kayong group page sa fb or group chat sa messenger? :) tska may marerecommend po kayong agency? I’ve heard higher chances daw na magkaron ng interview and mahire through them. Totoo ba? Kudos and God bless to all of you na nag tatake time tumulong sa kababayan :)
  • @rodelynnylanan If you are on a tight budget, I suggest na magipon ka muna talaga na may extra pag susugal ka dito. Magiging magastos lalo na if you need to exit which is mostly ganun ang case lalo na ngayon na mabagal na ang approval ng passes unlike before na ilang days lang may result na. Plus if ever you get a job dito and like yung isa natin kababayan na si @gary_garlic na ngayon I think better na umuwi satin and mag process nlg POEA kung sakali eh maglalabas ka na naman ng pera for it.

Walk in is not really the style dito. You can submit online applications. But if you really prefer na mag walk in wala naman kaso at style mo yun and malay mo iba maging kapalaran mo and dun ka makakuha work. Yung ginawa ko dati is gawa ng drafts na email na pra early in the morning office hours eh send send send na lang ako. In that way, chances are yung email mo eh nasa taas ng list and makikita ng HR or sino man in charge of recruitment. Pag mga lunchtime sympre break din ako then send ulit mga hapon after lunch. Pag medyo patapos na office stop na kc most likely pauwi mode na sila, hehe! Then hanap hanap ulit job postings and mag ready ng drafts again for next day.

Regarding sa agencies, be careful din and maraming modus dito. Pagbabayarin ka and it's not cheap then ang ending goodbye na sa pera mo and d ka nakakuha ng trabaho. Although, there are legit ones naman and normally yung usual na charge nila is 2 mos salary mo. Meron din iba who charge for like registration fee. Lalo na if you needed to exit pano mo pa sila hahabulin for refund? You can ask for advise pa rin dito.

I wish you good luck. As what I have said sa isang post ko keep your hopes high and your expectations low pra mas less stressful if things don't work out according to your plan.
  • @Vincent17 nag Boracay kasi sya, and nag apply ako by myself online huhu. Pero ita try nya sa Monday pagbalik. Pwede kaya yun? Llogin daw sya sa Singpass nya. T_T
  • @gary_garlic haha bat dimo hinintay.. :) Yes pwede pa un.. Tama thru Singpass..
