Chances of a board passer in landing a job in SG

Hi! So ayun nga magtanong sana ako if ano yung chance na makahanap ako ng work sa SG considering na kakapasa ko lang ng CPA board exam last October 2017. I ranked 12th sa boards that time, pero icredit kaya nila yun? currently im working in a multinational company here in BGC. I would really appreciate your comments! thanks! :)

  • hi @mangyan2301 , congratulations for being one of the board top notchers! Hindi ko alam sa field ng CPA, but hindi nila masyado pinapansin yung board exam sa Pinas, unless mga certification yun from International standards like CISCO, SIX SIGMA, etc. For normal accountancy job, I think you can practice, but being a CPA, need mo mag take ng Singapore local certification. I'm a board passer, though not top notcher (inside the top 100 lang, :D). Nagamit ko lang sya once sa Pinas, then nung dumating ako dito, palagi ko fino-flaunt ung board exam score ko, but never ako tinanong regarding dun. Mas intresado sila sa naging experience ko. Definitely, meron kang edge, but I suggest give it a 2 years experience in Pinas, para you can start strong pag nag apply kna dito sa SG.
  • hi @RDG ! Thank you for your feedback! Ano palang course/field mo? Plan ko magpatagal kahit 2 yrs here sa PH pero as early as now, nababasa basa na rin ako kahit pano hehe
  • Go and apply here https://www.efinancialcareers.sg mostly finance, banking, accounting, and IT related jobs mga nakapost.
  • @mangyan2301 , Engineering field ako. Yes, that's good. Atleast malaman mo ins and outs ng Sg law and process ng employment nila. Madugo at mahaba, pero sabi nga, mas rewarding pag pinagpaguran mo yung gusto mo. ;)
  • @RDG ilang years experience mo sa PH? :)
  • Hi @mangyan2301
Just want to share my experience, I am also a CPA (di nga lang topnotcher) with 3 yrs working experience sa pinas. Nagtry din ako sa SG last May, ngstay din ako for 2 months.. i only had 3 interviews sa period na yun. and unfortunately, i wasnt able to land a job and umuwi lang din ng pinas.
    Goodluck and Godbless sayo :-)
  • Hi @mangyan2301 ! 5 years experience bago ako lumipad dito.

@elsa:-) , yes, balik lang dito kabayan. There's a season for everything. :)
  • Hi @elsa:-) thanks for your insights! kamusta naman sa dubai? Were u on a working visa nung pumunta ka sa dubai?
  • Nope. Tourist visa lang. Actually mas in demand ung accountants dito ngayon. :-)
  • @elsa:-) if u dont mind, magkano salary mo sa dubai?
  • Hi ms.
  • edited October 2018
    @elsa:-) ah ok.

    Good luck!
  • mukhang matalino ka.. GO lang.. punta ka dito..

Lagay mo sa CV mo ung CPA/Top 12 :)
  • @Kebs hello po! Thank u! So ayun nga po nanghingi ako ng say ng mga workmates ko sabi nila is mas magandang magsimula habang bata pa kasi entry level daw ang avail jobs for us paglabas ng bansa.
  • Hi.
But thanks!!
  • Hi @maya kamusta ka? How's your work in dubai?

If yes, Ilang years yung experience mo baho ka nag SG?
  • @mangyan2301 yup dto ako sa SG at going for 11 years na. Experience ko dyan sa pinas is 14 years 10 years in internal audit and 4 years in operations. For them is back to zero ka...
  • @mangyan2301 You can always try to find a job here, yun nga lang gaya ng sabi ng iba, they consider you to be back to square 1. Pinas board exam results are not a big deal here, sadly. My sister-in-law was an accountant here too. She was on top of her graduating class in PHL. Naghanap muna sya ng entry level accounting job, then sinabayan nya mag review for the accounting qualification exam here pra maging internationally certified, and thankfully she passed the series of exams naman. As a board passer I think you can do the same and after that, mas madali ka nang makakalipat sa mas mataas na posisyon .
