Structural Engineer

Hi mga Sir and Maám,

Structural Engineer (Civil) from a consultant team ng Philippine Railways po ako sa Pilipinas and scheduled to fly in SG for job hunting on March 11 2017 after I finish my contract here.

Thank you so much.

  • Hi @monochrone , medyo tagilid ang Engineering and Construction ngayon dito. I'm a CE also working as QS here in SG. Pero there's no harm in trying. Maganda din pasok mo kasi after Chinese New Year. Baon madami daming pera, lakas ng loob at madaming dasal.

@jrdnprs Maraming salamat sir sayo.

  • edited November 2016
@monochrone, oo. Haha. I had 3 interviews. Yung isa mababa offer so no. Yung work ko ngayon, sakto lang.

Basta expect the tightest competitions between locals and foreigners, marami tayong kalaban. If it's for you, para sayo talaga.

We tried our luck Feb14 this year, Chinese New Year time, kaya I can recommend trying your luck during that time of the year.

    Good luck! :D

What I did was called every number ng companies on the BCA website. Then I asked them if may opening for foreigner. Got their email address and sent them my CV.

    @Vincent17 okay po sir
  • excited na ako at the same time kabado kasi pinagipunan ko din budget ko sa pag punta dyan
  • @monochrone , mas malaki ang chance mo if yung titirhan mong bahay dito may landline, kasi thru company's website, you can see their direct line, then pag natawagan mo na, ask them to forward your call sa HR department, then you can aggresively ask if may hiring at kung open for foreigners. Ask that person's personal email address as well as yung hrd email address.
    :)

After a week or two, magfollow up ka sa pinasahan mo ng resume para maassess mo if may mangyayari sa application mo.

  • @monochrone , that's what I did also. 2 weeks before the flight, yung resume ko, updated na with all the SG info. Tapos nagsend out na ako. Good thing yan. Malay mo swertehin at may makuha ka agad.

Pero mostly, the hardwork and drama happens when you are here in SG already.

anyway sir, paanu ang pagtitipid nio noon nung nagapply kau, hindi nmn po ba mahirap mgbudget ng pera for food, fares and extras?
  • edited December 2016
Tag 50k kami. Kumasya naman sya good for 1.5 mos. In short may mga sidetrips kami. Tapos nagdagdag pa kami ng P30k kasi syempre, hindi ka ssweldo agad, you have to work for the day na nahire ka up to katapusan, then saka palang 1st pay mo.

May separate thread dito na expenses in SG good for 1 month.

    http://pinoysg.net/discussion/1296/sg-expenses-good-for-1month#latest

Kami, sakto lang so maiaadvise ko sayo yung 50k very workable.

Yung accomodation, magbedspace ka, yung ALL-IN. Wifi, PUB (electricity and tubig), landline. Para wala ka na problemahin.

The bigger pocket money, the better.
Kasi syempre, hindi ka assured na makakakuha ng work within a month.
  • @jrdnprs ok sir, salamt sir .

Isa pa sir, kasi tourist ako pagpunta dyan na may roundtrip ticket. pag pasok ko ba automatic 30days na ung max ko stay or need p iapply to extend para maging 30days?
  • edited December 2016
You can apply for e-extend up to 90 days BUT yun ay if may 1st degree relative ka nandito. Pwede mo itry mag e-extend for another 30 days, kaso malaki chance na mareject. Otherwise wala ka choice but to exit to other countries (Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand or Pinas) then re-enter SG as tourist again.

Wag ka lang sana malasin at ma-A to A ka agad on your first attempt to enter, or ma-follow the ticket ka ng SG Immigration. Pero on your first entry dito, bihira lang naman ata *correct me if I'm wrong* yung denied entry. Usually sa 2nd or 3rd nagkakaproblema.
  • @jrdnprs what do u mean by "A to A" sir?
  • A to A = Airport to Airport.

  • Good day! I'M still here from philippines and Im still looking for a job in SG, anytime im preferred to travel to go there if I have a job interview. im a graduate of Civil Engineering w/ 3 years work experience in the philippines.

  • @monochrone, delete mo yung resume mo.

  • @monochrone, advise pa, ilagay mo top part yung Availability Date mo at Expected Salary.
    Wag sa end nung resume.

BTW, ang ganda ng CV mo. Good luck sa application.
  • okay okay thank you sir,

naghahanap ako ngaun sa monster at linkedin

@monochrone, for me more effective ways ay ganito:

    1. Search mo sa google, "Indeed QS/Civil Engineer/Structural Engineer (O kung ano mang gusto mo) jobs in SG". Lalabas lahat ng companies na may opening dun for the past xx months.
    3. Bili ng Straits Times every Wednesday and Saturday. Direct tawagan ang number na nakalista dun.

Greater chances of having an interview yang methods na yan based on my experience.
