Exiting & Entering Singapore After Work Pass Is Cancelled

Hello. Hope someone could shed light on this.

Will I encounter problems if I exit Singapore to go to JB for 5 days or so and come back to SG (this is during my 30-day short term visit pass, after my company cancels my work pass once I serve the last day of my notice period). I already have my one-way flight ticket to Australia where I'll be moving to for good.

Thanks in advance!

    After Employment Pass Cancellation
Generally, the 30 days given is for you to stay in Singapore and complete any formalities. After the Employment Pass cancellation, if you still wish to work and live here, you can still apply for jobs during the 30 days you are here, but if you are offered a job, you are required to apply for a new Employment Pass and do note that the STVP of 30 days is NOT extendable.

Hence, this will require a trip back to your country of origin before returning. You will need to leave Singapore after the 30 days period and apply for a new pass from home. If you have overstayed more than 30 days, you will be subjected to penalties accordingly and possibly banned, or you may have difficulties in obtaining any work pass in future.

Also, if you are not planning to leave Singapore and wish to set up a business here instead, then you will need to apply for an appropriate pass

  • Hi @kabo ! Kahit na may one-way ticket na ako to prove I have the intention of leaving SG for good? I just plan to go there for maybe 5 days WITHIN the 30 days given to me after my work pass is cancelled.

kung ako po, no need to risk it

    good luck

One last thing, if I show them my PR document in Australia? That would certainly erase any doubts whether I'll try to look for a job in SG as I'll be moving permanently in Australia by then. Thanks @kabo for your input!
