Resign or Not

Lalo na kapag nagbrowse ka sa mga job portals on the same skill as I have. As a support, masasabi mo na safe ka kase fixed yung amount ng client sa contractor, so maliit ang chance na ma-lay off/terminate ka, lalo na rin kung top-performer ka. Kinausap ko manager namen and I requested to have an increase, pero feeling ko, hindi rin ganun kalaki yung idagdag.

Pwede nyo ba ako tulungan at maenlighten mag-isip? Sa ngayon, may mga interviews na ako na inaaccomodate, may ilan na nasa technical interviews na ako.

Thank you in advance!

  • @lancerecillo - ganito ang gawin mo, first you identify bakit ka lilipat ng work?

    1. Bored?
    2. Compensation? (Ito na mentioned mo na, but do think deeply about if ito nga talaga)
    3. Growth?
    4. and so on...

Then second is ask yourself and answer it as honest as possible... If lilipat ako ng trabaho yung skillset ko ba ngayon (including mindset) or yung value na pinoprovide ko is more than the salary I'm asking?

If the answer is yes then go for interviews... then pick the best in terms of your requirements (aside from salary).

Then if the answer is no... improve your skills first (stay on your current company).. then when you feel confident enough to change job then go for it.

My personal opinion in SG (sa IT field lalo na yung specialized skillset) hindi mahirap lumipat ng work dahil mataas ang demand than the supply. (even if its recession similar ng 2008/09)

  • Also... before you resign make sure na yung bago employeer approved na yung In-Principle Approval (IPA). https://www.mom.gov.sg/passes-and-permits/work-permit-for-foreign-worker/sector-specific-rules/in-principle-approval

  • yup tama si matrix...think twice bago mag resign.....even though you have 6yrs experience sa IT at ikaw na nga rin nagsabi na 1yr ka palang dto sa SG nag work sa IT...minsan ksi dapat prove mo rin sa amo mo na you are more than what they are paying you for...sa kanila ksi you still a green apple here in Singapore as in marami silang makukuha na mas may exposure here in Singapore....meron ako kakilala na isang IT din sa kakapili ng mataas na offer ayun kalaunan di nakakuha ng job offer...pasalamat ka muna pansamantala at may work ka.....

Timbangin mo muna kung ano talaga ang driving force mo bakit ka nag work dto sa Singapore, kung sa tingin mo pala na madami ka nakikita naghahanap na company na kaya mo naman gawin try mo mag apply apply...ska mo lang ma realize pag sumabak ka na ulet sa mga interviews if you can sell your self for a higher salary.....hanggat wala ka pa offer just hang-on ka muna sa current work mo...ska ka nalang lumipat pag sure ball na meron ka lilipatan

  • Thank you sa advice. And yes, I get your point and I will not resign if there is no approved IPA yet.

    good luck

  • @lancerecillo - Yep you should resign if:

    1. Got the offer and signed contract with new employer.
    2. IPA approved.

    without these 2 don't resign.

Also do take note your notice period para si new employer alam kelan ka pwde mag-start (roughly). And also make sure mo doon sa current company mo enough yung notice period to hand-over the work. (also if need to deduct yung mga leaves mo).
