Job Offer / Salary Advice

Just got an offer for SGD 140K annual salary + 10% pension contribution, medical insurance, no car, no housing allowance.

Will this be enough for 35 year old, single? or do you think need to ask for more kase walang car/housing allowance?

  • Also what does "in lieu of CPF contributions" mean?

    Anyway, Congrats!!!
  • Perhaps similar lifestyle sa Makati, where I'm 5-10 minutes away from the office and only need a helper to come in maybe once a week just for some general cleaning/ironing. I'll be based sa Marina Bay Financial Centre, and looking at the rentals nearby on PropertyGuru.com.sg parang malulugi ako...?

:) Good for you @Pinoy1981 . about car allowance, hindi necessity ang car dito sa SG especially single ka. just my 2cent.

  • wow lake na nyan sir!! bigtime hehe..
  • Hi @Admin .. " .. do you mean I should be asking for more? Would you know roughly what reasonable amount I can get away with based on your wife's insider HR info? (or perhaps a more subtle hint to please go and ask her for me? )

  • @DaleC , Management is asking me to move so I don't have much choice unfortunately. My preference would be to stay in MNL na lang.
  • @Pinoy1981 so relocation within the company you worked with here in Manila? Is that a managerial role? Are you in IT?
  • @Pinoy1981 You got the wrong impression. may I know what position are they offering you?
  • Same job as in Manila, Debt Capital Markets. Same company.

No, not a manager, not in IT either.

@Admin - ah okay, apologies must have misunderstood your Tagalog
  • i don't see any issue, check mo lang bka peso yan ;-)

it's within the industry/market average based sa recent salary surveys for that position/role/industry.
and i think with your lifestyle and marital status, more than enough na yan, and in a year or two it's easy to get a 10% yearly increase sa industry not to mention the potential bonus rate sa finance/equity/debt market roles.

    Congrats and welcome to SG!
  • Very enough for you!

some of us (OFW) here survive with $1K a month, my family of 5 has a budget of $4K a month.

  • 140k roughly 10,700/month, kung gusto mo tumira around MBFC, 1 bedroom unit (The Sail for example) rentals will cost you around $4k/month plus utilities siguro 4.5k a month, the rest of your salary (6k) is still more than enough sa family of 4, eh single ka naman kaya no need to worry.
  • Kung ako yan titira ako sa shared housing (500-800 sgd a month for a room or 300 -450 bedspace), kakain ako sa mga hawker tutal single ka na man. At iiponin ko 9K-10K a month. my gawd!!!. saan ba pwede mag apply ng ganyan sweldo
  • I've been here for 2 months - what a really dull life....can't wait to go back to Manila after a year or so.

@Pinoy1981 youre already 35, that's a little old for you to be earning just 140k annually considering your banking experience. i have colleagues younger than you but earn way more. tbh OP if you think it's dull i suggest you move back to manila instead, hope this helps you decide
  • wow laki sahod. single ka nman and kung simple lifestyle lang, more than enough na yan. kahit twice a week ka pa umuwi sa pinas :)
  • wow grabe @Pinoy1981 , mas malaki pa sahod mo sa mga local friends ko working in the bank. kaya galit mga local dito dahil isa din yan sa rason lol. hindi po dull dito sa SG if active yung lifestyle mo dito.

@mariaklara im between 30-35 years old and im not even earning more than 50k lol. mapapa "buti pa sila" nalang ako.
    Kebs
  • @Kebs hahaha kahit every weekend umuwi pwede!

Ika nga, "All you need is ask ". hehehe .....
    makisig
  • Have a friend working in apple tumataginting na 25k sgd sahod *benefits included! Software Engr. plang yan.
