Dubai o SG?

Hello guys,

I am still undecided kung ipupush ko ba ang original plan ko na mg abroad sa Dubai or I will try my luck sa SG. Madami kasi akong mga negative naririnig regarding sa economy ngayon sa Dubai, like implemented na ang tax, down ang economy, maliit lng ang offer etc. Nakakatakot mag take risks knowing marami daw Pinoy umuuwi from there. So isang option ko sa SG. Malapit lng so mas madali mka uwi sa Pinas. Kaya lng, wala nmn akong kakilala sa SG, pero independent nmn ako so I am confident na kaya ko. Pero kung sa Dubai ako, I have a close friend there who offered me free accomodation while I am still looking for a job.

Please enlighten me. Thanks in advance.

PS: I will visit SG this May, just for a week as tourist. Will also be looking for oppurtunities baka swertihan during my tour may job na pwedi applyan.

If kaya ng budget, why not try sg muna, tas plan B magdubai pag di sinwerte sa sg.

  • @emily depende kasi yan, kung saan established yung job, mas okay siguro wag kang mag isip na negative. it's either way. Cheers!
  • @emily Plan for both if you have the budget. I guess the question is which country goes first. Good luck!
  • For me Singapore , i've been in Dubai for 3 years,

1.) Singapore Malapit lang sa pinas same time ng pinas di mo ma feel ang homesick

pero ofcourse this is my personal opinion, its all up to you.

    Goodluck po.
  • @emily Hi Emily! Yung isa I know eh sa Spa ata prang sa reception sya. I guess, if you really want to work here mas maging open ka lang sa ibang jobs and not just limit yourself with bank related jobs alone. Good Luck!
  • For the last few years, mahirap na makapasok ng banks ditto. Dati palipat lipat ako ng roles, for squeezing out interment opportunities. Tapos biglang nag stand still sya around 2016 onwards.... all of a sudden.... Dami din tangalan ditto sa banking, so at any point in time, dami ka competition sa job market.

Pero depende din sa experience mo, kung may highly technical skill ka na talagang patok sa hinahanap, it will be possible pa rin. Pero kung yung banking experience mo sa pinas ay retail/generalist na pwedeng matutu in a few months, or kayang gawin ng local ditto, mahihirapan ka.
  • .. on that note. Kung may data science / block chain / cloud experience ka na related sa banking, don't wait book a flight bukas ang for sure meron ka na trabaho within a week!
  • Thank you so much guys for your replies! it's really a big help in my decision making. Salamat!!! :)
Sana by the time mkapunta ako dyan sa SG meron invitation for interviews.
  • @PinkPasta hi pink pasta. Yes open naman ako even if not related to banking jobs as long as decent and good pay lng din. Nag tourist visa ka lang din ba? How long ka ba nag apply ng job dyan?
But ok lng, I'm open to any oppurtunities as long as ok nmn na trabaho.
  • @maya I did POEA sa Pinas and it took me 2-full days to process.
  • @maya Actually same kami ni @pinoypinoypinoy 2 days ko sya natapos. Expenses I really can't remember anymore. Pero yung fee ata if am not mistaken nasa 5k plus tapos may medical pa na d rin ganun ka mura and nagbayad pko ng ilang bwan for SSS, Pag-Ibig etc. (d ko sure to if required but nagbayad ako) . @pinoypinoypinoy naalala mo ba magkano lahat? Hehe! Pero most likely ata nagastos ko more or less 10k.
  • @pinoypinoypinoy Yeah, tama haha! Ang dami nila dun. Worth it na lang din kahit papano at least paglabas mo satin legit and wala na kaba/risk.
  • 2days lang pala! Bat sa naririnig ko inaabot wks. May mga ssminar training chuchu pa?
  • @maya Yes, meron seminar.

I'm contemplating a move to SG at the 2nd half of this year. I've got a degree in accounting but I've only worked in that field for a year and a half. Most of my experience is in marketing and events management. What do you think are my chances of finding a job in there? I'm currently teaching English in Vietnam for 6 months now but the level of racial discrimination in the ESL industry is just appalling kaya nagdecide ako na bumalik sa corporate and SG seems like a more practical choice over Dubai in my case. Wala po akong kakilala diyan so I'm hoping to get some answers from this forum. Thanks in advance po sa sasagot. :)
  • @PinkPasta thank you for sharing your experience. If ever mag exit from SG, then stay sa Malaysia like 1week tapos balik SG ulit hindi ba maquestion sa immig?
  • @mariamaurer sana marami pa mag share ng advise and experiences nila so will have ideas how to start
  • Yung exp namen apat kame na nag exit sa batam indonesia .. sa malaysia sa nababasa ko at nag sasabi sobra higpit no.1 exitan kasi .. share ko exp namin sa batam naharang agad kme papasok palang alam kasi nila kalakaran ng pinoy dun .. kinausap kme pinapaamin na mag stay lng dun para mka balik sa singapore another 30days pero d kme umamin.. tapos binigay na sa secretary passport namin apat pinaparinig smen na papabalikin kme sa SG dna papasukin sa indonesia .. sabi nmin sa secretary can you help us how to fix this sagot nya (what can you offer) sabi ko 20sgd each sabi nya (no 50sgd each) aun nag kasundo kme pasok sa CR nla tapos ipet yung 50sgd sa passport tapos pinalabas na kme sa office .. inabot nlng passport namen may tatak na .. pero may risk pdin yun SG io pag babalik kna maganda wag mo sagarin 30days mo kung ang flight mo pa SG-MNL 29th day .. umalis kna ng 22 balik ka ng 26 or 27
  • @emily Ako I think lahat ng exitan eh may risk. BUT Malaysia is one of the most common places to exit kc unang una cheapest then malapit lang. Basta ako believer ako na despite lahat ng pwd mo pagdaanan na exit and all if it's really meant for you to stay here and plano ni God yan sayo, wala na makakaharang :) Kaya laban and kapit lang. Good Luck!
  • @PinkPasta thank you for sharing and for inspiring me. God bless po sa inyo! :)
  • Hello po sa inyo, I'm currently here in the Philippines po kasi. Unfortunately, wala po ako kakilala jan sa sg na pwede kong pakiusapan na gawan ako invitation letter so as to comply with immigration's reqmts.
  • @Nohiel04 understand your situation. looks like mahirapan ka sa Invitation from Phil Embassy, usually nearest consanguinity ang kailangan. If others can come here as Tourists, i think you can. Just prepare your RT SG-PH& booked accommodation, bring your sunglass (paki alis pag nasa IO both) and be confident!
