I'm glad that there's site like this.

I'm a Oracle Certified Java Developer with 5 years experience and currently working in IBM.

I have 30 days leave and planning to Apply in SG without leaving IBM(hanggang sa makakuha ako ng work)

Questions.
1. How hard it is to apply for a Software Engineer position in SG?
2. Mayroon po bang mga company na willing to wait for 30 days to render in my current job?
3. I estimated 1k SGD for my 30 day living in SG. would that suffice?

@madpotato medyo malaki chance mo makahanap ng work dito, kaso not sure kung enough ba ung 1 month sa paghahanap mo ng trabaho dito. pagaayos palang ng papers 2 weeks na.

Kalimitan naman 1 month, kaso syempre mas prefer nila ung pwede magsimula agad.
1K? gawin mo ng 1.5K.. kung meron.

@carpejem question po. When passing an application online while nandito sa PH. Do they consider PH mobile number?

@Vincent17 sir ok lang ba magdala ng laptop? e.g company or personal? hindi po ba napapansin ng IO yon? naka pag out of the country na ako once. hihigpitan pa po ba ako nun?

kelan ka huling bumiyahe? sa ngayon kasi medyo mahigpit papuntang SG.
kapag napagkamalan kang maghahanap ng work, ultimo FB mo, hahalungkatin. (so better na ingat lang)

@madpotato yup lahat titingnan, kung hindi mo sila papayagan tingnan, dikarin makakalabas.

anyway, hindi ka naman pla magreresign agad agad, so medyo mahihirapan ka makakuha ng employer na makakapag hintay sayo. kasi uuwi kapa. take note na habang inaapply ung pass mo, kaialangan nandito ka.

@madpotato in my case yung ipa ko approved na pagalis ko pinas, tapos nagstart na ako ng work saka pa lang inapply yung epass ko. siguro after 2 weeks ko magstart saka ko nakuha yung epass. may dala rin ako laptop, acer, pero di ko binuksan habang nasa flight. nasa backpack ko sya na handcarry. budget ko, 1.4k (49k). tumagal sa akin ng 1.5months kasi nag room sharing lang ako sa first month ko hehe.

@abadjed wow! galing! bali sir 1.5 months ka nung nag apply ka sa SG then umuwi ka dn ng pinas while waiting for your IPA? nag render ka dn ba sa current company mo? hehe sorry mejo naguluhan lang, Java developer ka din sir?

@madpotato , bka may tips ka pano payagan mag 30 days leave? May max 25 leaves ako pwede gamitin kaya lang d ko alam pano ko payagan gamitin un lahat ng isang bagsakan.

@madpotato hindi po ako nagapply sa SG, bale tinawagan po ako ng headhunter, tapos sinetup nya ako interview sa current company ko. ang nagbigay ng JO and nagendorse sa Mom si current employer ko. nasa pinas ako the whole time. first time ko pumunta ng SG 3 days before ako magstart ng work. di ako java sir, SAP po hehe. good luck sir and God bless.

@abadjed galing mo sir! talented. pag common skill kase like Java, I think mejo tough. salamat sir and mabuhay kayong mga ofw.

@Ocelot Those leaves are mandatory. I need to check my email though. so technically magwowork pa dn ako. while nandon. kung may magcocover naman ng mga task mo dun sa missing days mo, I think pwede mo ipush yan sa manager mo. mejo mahirap talaga magfile ng mahabang leave dito satin. hehe Good luck sa atin bro!

@madpotato Tama, ang hirap mag file ng leaves, marinig pa lang na 1 week tumataas na kilay nila. Kung tutuusin pwede naman tayo mag remote remote habang nagbabakasyon. Hindi ba nagtanong boss mo san ka pupunta ng 30days?
