SG Job hunting from Dubai

Hi guys, i'm currently working here as a SAP(Business System) Coordinator sa isang malaking Engineering company for 7 months na, okay naman salary and company benefits. But yung family friend namin na may bahay sa SG, in-advise-an ako na magtry sa SG, since madalas sila umuuwi ng pinas, which is okay sakin. Actually, i already went to SG and Malaysia before just for vacay, na-swertehan lang ako dito sa dubai kaya after 1 week nagkawork kaagad ako. Andito din GF ko kaya naisip ko magandang start nadin, pero as time goes by, parehas na namin namimiss ang PH.

Unlimited contract ako dito sa dubai, so kung may mahanap nag work sa SG, pwede ako umalis agad, need lang magrender ng 30 days. Balak ko sana diretso na ng Singapore, di na ko dadaan ng pinas dahil sa higpit ng IO. Although madali naman yung pag alis ko ng pinas dahil kasama ko Dad ko that time na marami na stamp passport, at naghnda din ako bank cert. kung sakaling maquestion yung trip namin. Di biro PH IO, lalo na mga kasama mo sa pila, umiiyak nalang dahil pagkaalis ng immig dahil na-offload.

Balak kong by March, magresign na to seek job there in SG, para atleast nakacomplete na ko ng 1 year mahigit. nasa SG din kasi family friend ko na resident nadin ng SG. Gusto ko man humingi ng help from him, naisip ko na try ko muna on my own. So i'm gathering as much information as i could.

What do you guys think?

mahirap po maghanap ng work dito. so kung pwede ka magleave lang ng 1 month try mo dito.
iiwanan mo GF mo dyan or balak din nya maghanap dito? anong work nya if ever na pumunta rin sya dito?

@carpejem Hello sir thank you po, actually sa Singapore po kasi nandun yung mga family friends po namin. Kaya ni-reconsider ko lumipat. Sakto lang naman po yung salary pero mas iniisip ko kasi yung nakakauwi sa pinas ng madalas. I just turned 23 btw, so i still have a lot of time to think about it.

@RDG Yes sir, para kahit mag 30 days ako sa SG, di ko na p-problemahin yung mga IO sa pinas. Medyo napagastos ako ng malaki nung nag SG ako para lang di maOffload haha

@Vincent17 Opo sir, i know the risk(s), same lang din po dito lalo na kung gusto mo talaga makahanap ng magandang work. Yung GF ko po tatapusin nalang po yung contract nya then, balak na po nya di magrenew. Ako po gusto ko po dumiretso na ng Singapore, bale nagpapalawak po ako dito ng credentials para makipagcompete po dyan. If in God's will na maging okay ako sa SG, kunin ko GF ko no matter what. Yun po plan.

kung 1yr experience nasa bracket din ng halos wala pa experience. it would be best if sasabak ka dto na may sapat na experience. base sa kwento ng mga kakilala ko, mas nkkapressure maghanap ng work dto compared sa dubai. una, when u’r on tourist visa, sa dubai daw pwedeng 3mos, pwede din magexit at bumalik balik. dito sa sg 30days lang, pag wala pa rin job offer, pwede magexit pero napakaliit ng chance makapasok ulit. pangalawa, dpende pa sa kung may quota ba ung company? pangatlo, subject to approval pa yan ng MOM, salary, job post, education, experience, dpt magkakatugma.

kung susubok ka, go. basta make sure na may sapat kang bala para dka dehado pagdating dto. compare mo din salary mo jan at salary dto. apply ka muna online.

@linjuls07 , ganyan din ginawa ng friend ko. Straight from Saudi naman sya. Tapos nka apply na sa mga oil and gas at nka lineup na mga interview. Ayun, wla ng balikan sa Saudi. Naka pag bakasyon pa sya muna sa Pinas nung nkuha na IC at na secure nya OWWA and OEC.

2016-2018 (1 year and 3 mos.) - Systems Analyst (in Eng. Industry)
Now, 2018 - Present (7months) - SAP Coordinator (in Eng. Industry)

Total is 2 years and 5 months po sir. Projected na experience ko when i get there is 3 years. As much as possible tatry ko makakuha ng maraming knowledge dito and certifications to atleast give my credentials a chance.

@maya Overseas i have less than 1 yr exp. But overall i have a total of 2 years and 5 months exp. Thank you po sa advice, sa ngayon naghahanda pa po ako ng Plan A, sunod ko si Plan B and so on. Like what i did when i got here in Dubai. Pinagkaiba lang in SG, i'm aware that there's a higher risk. I've been in and out in SG before lalo na sa exits, pero that time talagang as a tourist lang po, i noticed na medyo matanong na when we went to Malaysia IO for Legoland/Lee Chong Wei academy tour, kasi another 30 days yun pagbalik. Good thing, kilala ko yung sports hero nila hahah kaya naiwasan yung suspicious questions.

Yes ma'am actually, my salary here is less compare to what i can have there in SG, but...
in terms of savings, i think same lang. Lalo na may matutuluyan naman po ako dyan. Yung advantage lang po talaga for me is yung pag uwi ng pinas frequently tsaka yung possibility na di na magrenew GF ko here in Dubai at mag pinas nalang uli.

@RDG Yes sir thanks sa advice, IT po ako pero nagkakaroon narin ako knowledge sa Oil and Gas/Engineering/ pati nadin sa Instrumentations. Malaking bagay din ang experience dito kasi talagang babatakin ka ng employer mo lalo na kung alam nilang madali kang matuto.

Balak ko nga po diretso na ng SG e, 30 days 'matic. Wala ng question sa pagalis dito ng dubai since may OWWA docs naman + OEC. Tapos exit pinas, then balik SG for another 30 days. I know it'll cost a lot and it's hard to land a job there at these times, but we'll never know if we'll never try.

@linjuls07 , gusto ko mindset mo! tama yan, the higher the risk, the higher the gain kumbaga sa stocks. lol. But regarding sa background mo, IT is more in-demand kesa oil and gas. Especially if meron ka mga certs like red hat, cisco, sap, etc. The more the merrier, dun plang agaw attention na yang CV mo. I suggest make urself visible sa LinkedIn. Dami IT headhunters lurking. Plan ahead, and be prepared. Mas malaki chance na maging successful.

@RDG Thank you sir, i'm learning also how to trade stocks esp. technical analysis. Currently pending yung application ko for trading platform kasi dito ako sa dubai nag open. Buhos ko sana sa $SMC because of Octoberfest hahah.

Cisco and SAP po meron ako knowledge, and i have certs also for Cisco pero need ko pa kunin sa alma mater ko yung certificates kaya di ko iniinclude sa CV ko. Active po ako sa Linkedin, recently puro PH companies yung nakikitang kong nagmemessage sakin. Casually looking for Singapore openings po ako. As of now, talagang funds and knowledge ang focus ko.

Change ur location to Singapore. If wla ka naman ka-connect na officemate, lagay mo na currently seeking a job in Singapore. Tapos try to FOLLOW yung mga IT consultancy firm, which eventually will make a way na ma-search ka ng mga IT headhunters. Its all about connecting dyan, and digital na ngayon, magulat ka magkaron ka ng skype interview kahit nsa dubai kapa.

In addition po, ask ko lang po kung magkano ang need ko for let's say 3 months in SG? Although may matutuluyan naman ako sa SG for a few months.

The usual is 40k-50k kung walang tutuluyan. If meron naman, I would say 30k. Na breakdown na din yan sa ibang thread, pero if food and transpo lang, u will survive with that 30k, basta alam mo san ang kainang swak sa budget.

Nakareceive po ako ng call from SG. IT Service Desk na Japanese speaker. Although inindicate ko naman na nakakaintindi ako ng basic japanese and might as well nakakapagsalita ng basic japanese especially greetings.

Delighted yung naginterview sakin via Call. I will have another round of interview via Skype after 1-2 weeks for assessment, they also told me handled nila yung Visa. So it will take 30 days (notice) + 14 days (Visa process) a total of 44-45 days. Medyo malaki yung offer, x3 ng current salary ko ngayon.

The problem is, 60 days ang need kong ibigay for notice and add pa nating yun bayad sa visa. Sinusuggest ng indian friends ko na kunin ko passport ko then sibat na pero emotionally di ko kaya gawin yun.

anong visa process at bayad sa visa? kung working pass, 3weeks un dito sa sg, sometimes longer. and hindi ikaw magbabayad nun kundi ung company na maghire sayo.
naguluhan din ako sa 30days notice tapos 60days notice. bakit may job offer na tapos may interview pa ulit? uhm, direct hire ba? ingat if agency. baka perahan ka lang.

@maya hello ms. maya, clarify ko lang po. Opo nabanggit nga po na 2-3 weeks yung pag process ng visa. And sagot nila yung expenses.

Yung 30 days notice yun lang po yung palugit na binigay ng company from SG. Yung company ko naman po dito (Current employer), 60 days minimum notice + need ko po bayaran yung fees. So either tatakas ako sa dubai employer ko dito or yung SG company po maghihintay for 60 days, which i doubt.

Yung interview po sa skype is for my job description, briefing and main duties daw po, according to the company.

kung ako ay dun ako sa tamang proseso. but again, wala ako sa posisyon mo kaya ikaw lang ang makakasagot nyan

@linjuls07 baka pwede mo pakiusapan yang employer mo sa dubai. ganun din kasi dito sa sg, kung di kaya tapusin ung notice, pwede makiusap, if di payag, magbabayad ka in lieu of notice. isa pa, kht may job offer na, usually wait muna maapprove ung pass bago magresign sa current company. kasi what if nagresign kna, tapos rejected ung pass? u also have to consider that. kung kaya mo irisk na magresign na kht wala pa kasiguraduhan ung pass.

@linjuls07 ikaw narin nagsabi ng 3x ang salary difference, bayaran mo nalang yung employer if ever na hindi papayag desired notice (less than 60). Kung completo ang docs mo at may quota sila, even less a week tapos na yan. Wag kang tatakas, daanin mo sa maayos na pamamaraan.

@linjuls07 "If it does'nt feel right, it's most likely not right". Do the right thing, so you can start right also sa new job. I would say let the employer apply for your job here in SG. Malaki chance yan na maka 1 month sa application and all. So act fast now. Resign sa current company, and kausapin si boss / hr. Tell them, ur rendering 1 month notice, and 1 month possibly to pay in-lieu. Nsa contract nman na pwede bayaran yun. So, depends pa din nga sa kalalabasan ng application and all. Atleast maka exit ka ng maayos. Para din yan sa mga future kababayan na makapag work sa company mo, hindi ma blacklist or magkaron ng negative impression sa ating work ethic. All the best!

Yan din po icclarify ko sa skype meeting, kung 30 days pagka offer or kung paglabas pa ng IPA.

Opo, dami ko nadin kasi hiningian ng advise, well gusto nila takasan ko lalo na po kasi mahigpit tong current employer ko sa mga leaves/resignation. Kasi 1 time po may nagresign after nya maka 1year, 2 months render + payment ng visa, 2 months worth of salary. As of now di pa po ako capable ng ganon, and i think di din papayag yung SG company ng ganon katagal. Pero yun na nga po desisyon ko, malinis akong makakaalis dito. In God's will kung di sakin, di sakin. haha

@carpejem Thank you po, according to them yung mga documents ko na ihahanda sasabihin nila sa skype meeting. So far di pa ko aware sa mga need. Opo, so as of now naghihintay din po ako ng result tska ng skype meeting to clarify all of these things. Yes, malinis po tayong aalis ng bansa, if urgent na yung position sa SG, and di ako makaalis agad, well it's not for me. Pero sana makuha kasi talagang malaki po yung offer.

@RDG Tama sir, thank you po sa advise. Buti itinulog ko muna yung desisyon ko hahaha. Mas clear na sakin na di ako aalis ng bansa na may kaso/absconding/etc. Kung di po kaya mahintay nung SG company + ayaw ng company ko ngayon na paalisin ako agad. Ibig sabihin po hindi para saakin to.

Opo nasa contract po binasa ko ulit at nagtanong tanong ako, sabi nga po nila uso daw po dito samin yung 1 month na render, tapos 1 month na bayad. Madalas nga lang daw po may mga iba't ibang hirit pa tong company namin bago po nila i-cancel yung Working Visa, like magpapabayad ng gnito ganyan. Which will take about 3-4x worth of salary ko. Talagang pinapahirapan po tlga nila yung mga nagreresign. I understand naman kasi crucial position po yung role ko.

Pero as i've said po, aalis po tayong malinis dito sa bansa. Kung di ko man makuha yun at nakapagresign na ko, may plan B na po ako na nakahanda.
